The U. K. Government pays its pensioners the lowest pensions of the entire 15 former members EU. States and yet declares itself to be the 4th wealthiest nation in the industrial world. You will also note from the Chancellor's Budget Statement [Hansard] of 9th April 2003 that in paragraph six of page two, he puts the United Kingdom on a pedestal by stating, "I can tell the House that - unlike America, Japan and Germany - the British economy has grown uninterrupted, free of recession, in every single quarter over the past six years".
If this is true then why is it not the perfect time to remove pensioner poverty? Once and for all!
